prot. 228945298_10157279986019554_1596535320_oRecently I made shirts for my nephew Christopher. He was kind enough to send pictures of him modeling them, including the prototype. A total of 4 shirts.  He looks very nice in them, if I may say so.     : )28946561_10157279994584554_316235432_o 29391339_10157279993744554_812992124_o

Natalie has a memory foam neck pillow that she wanted to be used in a hoodie travel pillow. I found a woman’s, X-large, black hoodie at Thrift Town for a bargain price of a $1.99. ( My price.)

She requested I put in a zipper. Which I did and is a good idea due to the fact that memory foam in so dense. A little tricky to get it into any kind of cover.  And, helpful when you want to wash the hoodie.

It turned out pretty good. Nat is happy. Mission accomplished!

My nephew Christopher was in the Peace Corps., and spent time in Africa.  While in Africa he purchased some brightly colored fabric, and wanted shirts made.  I agreed and made 2 protoypes.  When the fit, and sleeves were just as he wanted, I got busy and created these 3 shirts.  They turned out really nice, and fit like a glove.

I learn something every time I make something for someone. I now have a much better skill set for collars and sleeves. Both gave me trouble, but now, not so much.

An apron for Peter.

002004006Peter has KP duty 3 times a week. He is in need of an apron.  He is 6 foot 8 inches tall. Yes, he needs a custom apron. No problem.  A yard of denim, bias tape, and some twill tape. I am good to go!   I hope he likes it. : )

I know this looks really long, but the manny is only 5 feet tall.

Every year at Christmas, I house sit for Steve and Dale. I live in their lovely home and take care of their adorable beagle, Olive.  I noticed they do not have oven mitts.  Dale does lots of cooking and baking, so I figured, why not. Make some mitts for these guys.

I found some very nice gray cotton prints. Perfect!

Kitchen curtains

I have been thinking about new curtains for the kitchen for some time. At one point, I had fabric lined up, but it ended up in my guest room.  Recently, I put a set of sheets aside to use in some sort of sewing project. No real plan. Well, the other day I was thinking more about the kitchen curtain idea, and tada!  The sheets came to mind. They are perfect. Stripes, cotton mix and colors that go with everything. One queen size flat sheet made curtains and valances for the whole kitchen.  I am very pleased!

A few years ago, I made a  cover for a body pillow for Steve and Dale. It turned out nice and has lasted well.  However, some changes have taken place, and that cover doesn’t quite work any longer.  No problem!  A new choice of fabric, and wha laa!! A whole new look.

New lunch tote.

I finally made a new lunch tote for myself. I have been wanting to do it for a while and I have had it cut and ready for at least a week. The pieces covering the kitchen table, is not what I had in mind.

I used remnants and belting I bought on “clearance”.  So, not a lot of cost. This is always a good thing!

Keep it safe!

For the longest time, I have been carrying two knives in my lunch bag. They are wrapped in a paper towel and rubber band. I know, not the greatest idea, but they are only cutting what I want. Well, no more!  I decided to make a case for them. Neat and tidy. Very quick, easy and I didn’t think about it to much. Just went for it. Remnant and shoe string. Tada!!!
