Isabella’s Pj’s.

Tina asked if I would make a pair of pj’s for her daughter Isabella,  using  her favorite fabric. Of course I will!  This fabric is so cute, I wish I had some to make a pair for myself. Ha!!!!010006005

Strawberry apron.

I have  some strawberry print fabric that has been in my collection for years!  I decided to make a 50’s style apron from a pattern, rather than a kit, like I did before. Nothing says 50’s, and apron, like edible prints!  Not sure why,  it just does.  I am pleased as punch with this apron. (-;007004006

Tina purchased a couple of yards of licensed fleece over a year ago, with the hopes of making a robe for her husband. Well, that didn’t happen. Lucky for me, she contacted me via my sewing ad on Craigslist, asking for help with the project. I accepted, gladly. Two yards wasn’t quite enough to make a robe. I advised Tina to purchase a couple more yards of a contrasting fleece to make up the difference.

Four and a half yards of fleece, and a week later, whalah!!!   A robe has been born. I think it looks nice. I hope Bob likes it!

I bought an apron kit a while back. I liked the print, the style, and I had not made an item from a kit before.  I thought I would check it out. Luckily, the kit was on clearance.  I don’t think I would have purchased it otherwise. (Just a tad to pricey for me.)

Pillows for Audrey

Audrey is taking some time off of work ,to have a hip replaced. She is creating a healing atmosphere for herself before she has her procedure. Decorative pillows are  a part of that.  She asked if I would do the sewing for her. She sews herself, but hasn’t the time right now. I agreed. She supplied the fabric, and the inserts. The rest was up to me.  I used “french seams” and “fold over” closures.  They look great!  I think Audrey will be pleased.

I decided to make a bear for Devon. I noticed she likes animal print.  I have some in my collection of fabric!  Lucky girl, that Devon. (-;   I dressed the bear like a ballerina. Not sure why, maybe it has something to do with Halloween coming up. I have a spool of tulle that was just the right width to make a tutu. I wanted it VERY thick. Yes, I succeeded.  Too cute, this bear. I hope she likes it.  I know I do.

Memory Bears.

I decided recently, it was time to start making Memory Bears again. I did it in the past, and I have the time, so why not? I am going to sew anyway, I might as well use my talent for a good cause, and make families happy.  The family member liked to cook, so I detailed two of the bears to reflect that.

I am pleased. I think the family will be as well.

A skirt for Helen.

Helen likes to folk dance. She wanted a skirt that would flow, and twirl nicely while on the dance floor. I have just the ticket! My roomy picked out a fabulous print, and solid that compliment  each other. As luck would have it, I was able to cut the fabric. (lucky guy!)

I thought a bag to match the skirt would be an added bonus, so I improvised a design, and went for it.  Both items turned out quite nice. This is my first invisible zipper that wasn’t practice on scrap fabric.  It  looks good. I do need more practice. Zippers and I are still not very good friends. I am working on it.

Helen was tickled pink with her skirt, and bag. She did a little dance in my kitchen after she tried it on. Fits like a glove! I am pleased.

I found some cute, interesting fabric at the shop recently. Streets, to be exact. Of course, who came to mind?  Jeff, of course. Mr. PhD.  Engineer in transportation.  I showed it to him, and he thought it would make nice throw pillows for his office in Michigan.  I used “fold over” closures. Made them 16″ square.  They turned out quite nice.   Here you go “Doc”.  Good luck in Michigan.  I’m gonna miss ya!

Andrea recently visited a small village in Africa. She discovered fabulous fabric, and a pair of wrap around pants. She likes them so much, she asked if I could duplicate them using one of the fabrics she purchased. I was up for the challenge. I used the pants as a pattern. Didn’t take long, and I had them finished. It was a simple design. Didn’t need instructions. Pants with no side seams, just a thin sash of sorts to tie them around the waist. No muss, no fuss.
