I started on the next group of bears right away. Becky told me there were special circumstances attached. I got them done in just a few days. I was ready to deliver, and notified her. She had mentioned before, she was quiting her position with the organization, to go back home to the mid west. She will be missed. I really liked her. This time I went to Walnut Creek to the office of the organization. I delivered the bears, and met the new lady heading up the department. Of course, I took home some more supplies for another batch of bears. ha Check out the group I handed off.

Natalie wanted a bean bag chair to put in her classroom for the kids to use in the reading corner. What a great idea! Well, of course I jumped on that. Researched online, found a pattern, and got started. It is HUGE! Turned out great. I hope the kids like it. :-}

My nephew had several bears cut, and ready to sew,but no time to sew them. He asked if I would take over for him. Of course! He delivered the supplies in record time, and I proceeded to get those guys sewn. I put them together pretty quickly, and notified Becky I was ready to deliver the finished bears. We agreed to meet in Emeryville. I was also asked to make a few more, and she would bring the supplies on the day we meet. I agreed. Here are some pictures of the ones I did for Paul.

Since I was not working, I wanted to put my sewing skills to use in a way other then my gigs from Craigslist. My nephew told me about an organization that had volunteers make teddy bears for families, who had a member recently pass. They are made from articles of clothing of the deceased. I thought, what a wonderful idea. I need to do that. I contacted the lady who was in charge of that department, and soon was on my way to being a member of the volunteer sewing group. Here are a few pictures of the first group of bears.

I decided to make something from a pattern I had from the 80’s. I needed some practice putting in zippers. I decided a halter top with a back zipper would be a good choice. I used a simple patterned, cotton fabric, and a contrasting fabric for the lining of the upper part of the top. I think it turned out very nice.

Sunday, February 21,2010 I sent an email to John letting him know I was done with Ginger’s blouse. He in turn, asked if I could make a large red tote bag to match Ginger’s boots. I agreed, and found the perfect fabric for the bag. John also asked if he could use “Bunny’ in a dream sequins that will be in the movie. Of course I said “yes”. I was very flattered, and thought it was very nice for him to ask.
I finished the blouse and bag and informed John on the 24 th. We are meeting on March 3 to deliver.
Met with John and Peter. Delivered the blouse and bag. Both guys were very pleased. Yahoo! No future assignment, but I asked to be updated with the progress of the movie. Received many updates. I really enjoyed this gig. It was a challenge, but a good one. (-:

Received an email today from John, asking if I could make a swim suit for Ginger. Of course! I can. I got started right away. I used fabric that was my grandmothers. Very colorful and perfect for a suit for Ginger. It took a bit of adjusting, but I managed to make a very cute suit for her to wear in her swimsuit photo shoot.
I am to meet with John and Peter tomorrow. John is going to take my picture for their website. How exciting! All the people helping with their movie are featured on the site. I am so flattered, and am excited to be included.
I delivered the swimsuit and bag on Feb. 1, 2010. John was very pleased. So was I. ha

I met with the guys again today. I delivered Ginger, and Pickle. They really liked what I had done, and sent me home with Corndog. He needs his jacket altered, and a new pair of slacks. Also, his checkered suit needs to be top stitched in white thread. I was also asked to make a pair of boxer shorts for Mr. Pickle. I agreed, and headed home to get started.
Delivered on Dec 29, 2009. Both John and Peter were pleased as punch with what I had done.

Today I answered an add on Craigslist for making doll clothes. I was very interested. I received an answer the next morning, asking if I had sewn small scale items, and if I could meet with John and his partner in Berkeley. I agreed, especially after viewing their website. Johnnyunderscore.com. So cute, and I knew I had to be a part of this project. I met with John and Peter, and agreed to make the outfits for their characters that were to star in their “stop motion” movie. Ginger needed a dress and nighty.
Mr Pickle needed his suit altered. This is going to be fun, and a challenge. So small, but so cute! Here’s a picture of Gingers dress.
