One more tote.

I make tote bags all the time, and after a while they are not much to blog about. However, Nat has started an Etsy account recently, and I wanted to give her a little something to silk screen, and try to sell. Camouflage fabric is different from what I usually use. I had some pieces floating around in my collection of  fabric that  I have been holding on to for a while. Thought it might make some interesting bags. Nothing fancy, just practical and sturdy.  I am sure by the time Nat puts her spin on this one, it will be “Etsy “ready!

Odd pieces of camouflage fabric

Those pieces are now a tote!

Ta da!!!

Steve’s birthday is coming up in May. I was invited to his early birthday/dinner party and wanted to bring him a little something. His partner told me he could use some new shopping bags. The ones he is using now are getting  worn, and could be replaced. Well, since I know how to sew, and  bags are relatively simple to make, I jumped on the idea. Of course, making  only one was not good enough. I felt he needed choices, and made the grand total of three!  Good things come in three’s, right?

I rummaged through my collection of fabric, and found what I needed. Steve loves orange. He has lots of color around him, all the time. ( You should see his house. Fabulous! ) A pair of  khakis, a sheet, and remnant pieces have been spun to three different sized, fully functional, completely lined, fabulous bags. I am pleased with how they turned out.  He loves them!  He told me he used two of them,  just today. Hurray!

                                                                    Happy Birthday, Steve !

Angel’s new kitchen.

Angel was nice enough to take a photo of her newly remodeled kitchen, with all the pillows and cushions I covered . They look very nice, and both of us are very pleased.  Thanks, Angel!

Angel redecorated her kitchen recently, and wanted some cushions, and pillows to place in the corner unit that was created for dining, studying, hanging out, etc. She wants to use “Sunbrella”, natural colors, and simple design. My kind of project. 🙂

The fabric is easy to sew, and is very strong.  I think it will be just the ticket for what she wants.

I don’t do knits!

Well, generally I don’t like to work with knit fabric. I usually run when someone asks me to make something with it. Guess what?  Yep, that’s right. I finally broke down, and made a blouse using black, crushed penne.  Kind of a stretch, crushed velvet. I was also wanting to make a “cowel” neckline. Haven’t done that before. So there you have it. Success with knit, and a new, fun neckline.  I am pleased.

The sale on flannel was to good to let go. I found two more prints that I couldn’t pass up.  Colorful lizards, and little white paws. TOO cute!

Boxers or briefs???

I made a pair of boxer shorts years ago. I wanted to try again. I ran to Thrift town to get a pair for the crazy price of 99 cents, to use as a pattern.  Well,  the pattern idea worked pretty well. Sadly, no instructions to follow. I did get stuck for a bit trying to figure out the front panel. Silly me. It’s not that  difficult! I finally referred to a pant pattern I had, and it all came together.  They look pretty good. I am thinking of giving them to my roomy.

Monster P.J.’s

Flannel is very reasonably priced at the store right now. I found some very cute “monster” print that was talking to me. “Make some P.J  bottoms for yourself”, it said.  So, I purchased two and one half yards, and decided to do just that.   They turned out great!   I used some of the left over fabric to make a pillow cover for my roommate, and a scarf for his dog.  Yipee!!  A successful project.

Something for me.

It has been a while since I made something for myself, other than hemming pants for work, or altering a shirt.  Yeah, BORING!  So, I decided to make something new, just for me.  I used to make backpacks all the time for others. I thought it might be nice to make one for myself.  I found a piece of fabric I have been keeping for ages, not knowing what to do with it. Decided, it was the perfect amount, for what I wanted to do.  Used a colorful pillow case for lining. Let’s not forget beads. They are a must on a backpack.  Ha!  I am pleased with how it turned out. Now, I need to put it to the test, and actually use it.

Steve had an idea for putting his prints on product. Something to show them off in a different way. Pillows came to mind, and he asked if I would be interested in helping with the project. Of course I would!   He had some of his prints transferred to fabric through an online site.  He gave me  several blocks to get started. I finished them pretty quickly, and now have my rhythm. The next batch should go even  quicker, and hopefully, look as nice as the first.
