A Pillow cover for Steve.

I was recently contacted by Steve, who asked if I could make a cover for his “body” pillow. He already has the pillow, and the fabric, so half the battle is done.  I met with him a few days later, and he gave me the materials to do the job. He designed the fabric through a website. Very cool!  I will  have to investigate that further.

I  started, and finished the pillow a couple of days after our meeting. It turned out nice. I hope he likes it.

Hanging Jon’s rug.

Jon had a rug that  he wanted to hang in on the wall in his new home.  HHmmm…  I did some research, and agreed to take on the task. We met, discussed it, and before long, I had a casing, and a rod on the back of the rug. Ready to display on a wall in his new house.  I did have to cover a ruff edge on one end of the pole. I used a small piece of leather to create a “cap”. Used some glue to attach it. Looks great!

A repair on leather.

I bought this leather coat years ago second hand for what would now be considered a “steal”.  Nat has been wearing it for the last few years, and recently brought it back  to  me with a tear. HHmmm.  Should I tear it up, and use the leather for another project?  Nope! I decided to repair it. Haven’t worked with leather before. Let’s see what can be done.

I was able to save it. Hopefully, Nat will get a little more wear out of it. It doesn’t look as good as new, but I think it will be fine. Both of us got our mileage out of it. Even though it is old, and has been around the corner, it still looks pretty good.

One more skirt!

I decided to make one more skirt from a pair of 501’s.  No lining, bells, or whistles.  Just a simple, button fly, scarf belted, skirt. The bottom raveled wonderfully, and this version is a little longer than the ones I  have made in the past.  If anyone is interested in purchasing it, I would be happy to sell. The waist is 38″, and the length of the front is about 21″, back about 23″.  I would like $30.00, but I am willing to negotiate. (-:

Natalie asked me to make a new lamp shade for a floor lamp that has been around for a while.  I was glad to help, and take on the challenge. I decided to make it more user friendly when changing the bulb. It has snaps, and can be easily removed. I am very pleased .   I hope she likes it!

My friend Terri has a coworker who needs a little help with a dress she bought for a wedding she is in.  The sleeves needed a little “redo”, and a new hem was in order.  With the fabric that was cut from the bottom, I made a simple, long sash.  Thank goodness is was made of cotton. My kind of dress. Easy to wear, easy to sew.  I think it looks pretty good.

Courtney liked what I did with the 501’s a while back. The skirt with the purple dotted lining.  I was thinking, her birthday is coming up, and making her a skirt would be the perfect gift.  I told her of my plans a couple weeks ago, and asked for a pair of jeans. She found a pair very quickly, and I told her I will make the skirt, but I won’t line it.  (She was fine with that.)  I did use the purple dotted fabric to make a sash.  I also added a little something with the left over denim. I think she will like it.

Happy 21 st Birthday!

OMG!  I am so pleased with this project. It actually looks a lot like how I imagined. I love it when that happens.   I think Nat will like it as well. This is my first attempt at recovering a piece of furniture.  Not bad lady!  hahahaha

The request was to make a new cover for the foot stool. Something made from old jeans. Well, as luck would have it, I have plenty of black  jeans I acquired recently. Perfect for the project. It is going well, but I wanted to post some preliminary  pictures, including the mess that happens when I am on a sewing streak.  (-: This is just the kitchen! Never mind all the thread, and scraps of fabric that get strung all over the rest of the house. lol
