Seam 2 Rip

Jon bought a very cool wall hanging online. He wants to use it to block out the sun coming from a window on his  front door. The sunlight was ruining his art. I found a lightweight vinyl with a thin layer of flannel on the back. No light gets through, and it seems to be perfect for what he wants.  It was a little tricky to sew. There is slippage factor I didn’t think of when I purchased it. I used fusible interfacing on the corners, and along the top of the back of the vinyl. Yes, fusible! Wouldn’t recommend ironing vinyl, but using permanent press setting works really well. Two layers of interfacing on the corners support the small buttonholes I used for mounting.

I am happy with the result.  I learn something new with every project. 😉

Kay has some very nice white wicker furniture on her patio. The cushions have been exposed to the elements, and could use new covers. She asked if I would be interested in doing this. The only change is to insert zippers.  I agreed, and am happy with the results. I have to admit, the round one was a challenge. I had to create a zipper panel to make the insert fit properly. A couple of the inserts needed new liners. I used muslin, it worked nicely.  I hope she will be as pleased as I am.

My daughter wants a new tutu. It should be a Valentine’s theme.  Peach and red tulle will work nicely. I prefer to sew them rather than tying. It has several layers so there is fullness and if she decides to change it up, lots of options. I can help with those. : )

I found a nice, inexpensive red striped knit at work recently. I looked at it and thought, that would make a really nice scarf. My daughter has a birthday coming, and I think she would like this fabric. So, that’s what I did. It turned out very nice. I am pleased as I think she will be .  Happy Birthday, Babe!  ; -)

Kay purchased some really cute polka dot fabric online. She wanted 2 throw pillows made. During our conversation, she asked for a tote  from what ever fabric was left over after the pillows. I told her no problem. I am your girl!  She supplied me with everything I needed except for thread. I have tons!

I am very pleased with the pillows and tote. The print on one of the sides of the bag lined up perfectly. “Magic”, I call it when this happens. No planning, just happened. Love it!  Did a little “Dance of Joy” over this one.  ; )

Quilting isn’t my thing. However, I have a quilt my mother gave me years ago, and it has been showing some signs of wear. I decided to repair it. The border is pretty tattered and I found the perfect sheet to use to repair/ cover it. I didn’t want to take it apart, too much work. : /    I preserved the initials of my mother that was stitched on the corner  of the quilt and I added mine.  I am not doing any additional  detailed hand stitching. Don’t have the patients. I did however, do a lot of hand stitching of the new border to the back of the quilt. I think it looks pretty good.

Recently I found a character flat sheet at my favorite thrift store. It is Batman and Robin. My best bud, Susie and I refer to each other at Batman and Robin. So, of course I had to make totes for the both of us.  I also found a remnant that has an Egyptian flare. Not really my style, but interesting and the price was right.  So, this is the result of my bargain fabrics.

Dave’s sister had a birthday recently. He wanted to do something special for her. A tote is a nice gift. What about making it from licensed fabric of one of her favorite teams?  What a good idea!  He found Patriots fabric online. I had the perfect color fabric for the lining in my collection of fabrics. A nice woven belting, and we are good to go.  It turned out nice, and sis loves it!

I made a chisel holder for my brother a while back. One of his friends saw it, and wanted one for himself. He contacted me VIA my brother. We worked out the details, and I began to work my magic!  I am very pleased with the results. I hope Ryan is as well. I have these down to a science. : )  All materials are re-purposed, well, except for the thread.

Angel recently purchased two panels of grafitti print cotton to be used for wall cover/ what ever you want..??? Possibilities are endless.  She wanted two curtains, two pillow covers and a set of pillow cases made from the fabric. I was pleased to do it for her. They turned out great!
