A quilt for Mom.

My mother is the “Queen” of quilting.  Over the years, she has made many a quilt for friends, raffles and silent auctions.  As far as I know, no one has made one for her.  I decided to change that. I had a nice sized section of pieced fabric that I put together years ago. Simply because I like the prints, and I didn’t want to throw them away. I had no plans for it at the time. I put it with my stash of fabric.

When I decided to make a lap quilt for her, and started searching for the colors of fabric I wanted to use,  I saw this handy work, and said to myself, “this is perfect.”  I just need to add a border or two. Maybe 3, and it will be ready to go!

So, 3 borders later, a layer of fleece for batting, and a backing.    I didn’t actually quilt around the sections. I used embroidery floss on some of the corners. Just to hold the layers steady. I really like how this turned out.

My daughter got married on Mother’s Day this year, 5-12-19.  I purchased a black jumpsuit, per her request.   I really like it, but I wasn’t pleased with the belt that came with it. I decided to make a belt from some scraps of leather I had in my stash. I used eyelets for the first time. I have to say,  it turned out very nice.PICT0008
